PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND PRACTICES is a study on the basic knowledge and understanding of project management. This course also cover the information of the duty of a technician and assistant engineer, concepts of planning, scheduling, construction monitoring and quality assurance in project management. The application of green technology and Microsoft Project for planning and scheduling, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and the functions of various types of critical path method will be exposed to the students.
FLUID MECHANICS covers the behaviour and characteristics of engineering fluids and
their application in hydrostatic and hydrodynamic fluids. This course involves
discussion on fluid properties, fluid static, fluid flow concept and basic equations,
moving fluid forces, dimensional analysis, flow in closed conduits and pipe network,
stability and buoyancy and momentum equations.
REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN covers concepts and methods of design for reinforced concrete structures comprising beam,
slab and column. This course emphasizes on knowledge and practice of producing double storey reinforced concrete building
design starting from the layout plan, action & analysis, structural design and detailing according to Eurocode 2 (EC2).
Water & Waste
Water Engineering is a study of water resources, water characteristics, usage
and demand of water supply, raw water treatment process and water distribution
system. This course also includes the information on the process in sewage
treatment plant, sludge treatment and disposal. It also emphasize on the
parameter of drinking water and effluent from sewage treatment plant.
HYDRAULICS covers the application in hydrostatic and hydrodynamic fluids. This
course involves discussion on hydrostatics concept and basic equations of stability and
buoyancy. This course also emphasize on the application of constituents of pumps and
open channel flow concept appropriately in solving hydraulics problem.
THEORY OF STRUCTURE covers
basic knowledge of facts and principles in calculate the reactions, bending
moments and shear forces for statically indeterminate beams and portal frame
using the slope deflection method and moment distribution method. It also includes
basic principles in calculation the forces in truss members using the
equilibrium joint method and section method for the statically determinate and
using unit load method for the statically indeterminate trusses.
MATERIALS course is designed to equip students with a comprehensive knowledge
and skills related to construction materials used in civil engineering. It will
emphasize on types and function of cement, the function of aggregates in
concrete, water, admixtures, properties of fresh and hardened concrete,
concrete mix design, and manufacturing concrete on site. This course also
focuses on the properties of timber, types and characteristics of brick and
concrete block, steel and non-steel, the types and function of building
finishes materials and the introduction to building elements.
Theory of Structure covers basic knowledge of facts and principles in calculate the reactions, bending moments and shear forces for statically indeterminate beams and portal frame using the slope deflection method and moment distribution method. It also includes basic principles in calculation the forces in truss members using the equilibrium joint method and section method for the statically determinate and using unit load method for the statically indeterminate trusses. Influence lines have important application for the design of structures that resist large live loads. Evaluation in influence lines include determination of shear force, bending moment and the absolute maximum moment.
GEOTECHNICAL & HIGHWAY LABORATORY (DCC30112) covers knowledge in the form of practical through the experiments which are carried out based on the concepts and the theories learned in the class. The emphasis of the course is on the method of conducting experiments, analysis and understanding its relationship with theories learned. The course also focused on the geotechnical & highway which are the core of the civil engineering field.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND CONTROL is a study on types and effects
of communicable and non-communicable diseases to public health. It also emphasizes
on the control and monitoring of pollution from water, air and noise and the effects to
general health and environment. It also covers the knowledge on management of
municipal solid waste and hazardous waste. The students are exposed to the
Environmental Quality Act 1974 as the guidelines and procedures in managing
GREEN TECHNOLOGY COMPLIANCE course is designed to
introduce students with fundamentals of green technology, green practices, and
green compliances towards the ultimate target of sustainable living. Students
will be exposed to different feasible technologies in achieving goals that show
developments in rapidly growing fields such as sustainability, innovation,
viability and natural sources reduction.
1 introduces students to the field related to geodesy and provides knowledge of
the reference surface in geodesy, ellipsoidal geometry characteristics, datum
in geodesy, geodesy coordinate system and computation on an ellipsoid. This
course also emphasize on calculation on geodetic coordinate.
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH course is designed to impart understanding of the self-regulatory concepts and provisions under the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA). This course presents the responsibilities of workers in implementing and complying with the safety procedures at work. Understanding of notifications of accidents, dangerous occurrence, poisoning and diseases and liability for offences will be imparted upon students. This course will also provide an understanding of the key issues in OSH management, incident prevention, Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR), fire safety, Hazard Identification, Risk Control and Risk Assessment (HIRARC) and guide the students gradually into this multi-disciplinary science.
CADASTRAL SURVEYING 2 provides the knowledge of eKadaster environment including Coordinated Cadastral System, Global Navigation Satellites System (GNSS) for cadastral work via post processing and MyRTKnet environment, strata title, stratum title and professional practice as licensed surveyor.
LAND MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT provides students with the exposure
and knowledge related to land management and development in Malaysia. The
module emphasizes on the land management and development under Strata Title
Act 1985, nunderground land development, mining land development, land
development under Group Settlement Area (GSA) and land development under
National Land Code (NLC) 1965. Students are also exposed to planning aspects
under Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172) and also Local Authority Act
1976 (Act 171).
Remote sensing is the science (and to some extent, art) of acquiring information about the Earth's surface without actually being in contact with it. This is done by sensing and recording reflected or emitted energy and processing, analyzing, and applying that information.
BASIC SURVEYING provides basic knowledge in surveying, map and plan, datum
determination and the usage of survey equipment. It also provides early exposure to
students about land survey professional bodies. The course emphasizes on conducting
a closed traverse based on standard procedure during practical fieldwork. Students
are also exposed with the knowledge of booking for a closed traverse.
CADASTRAL SURVEYING 1 provides students with the knowledge on title survey,land development process and exposure to conduct cadastral works according to thelatest regulations. It also emphasizes on problem solving and techniques of collectingdata manually and Field To Finish (F2F) concept until the production of Certified Plan (CP).
HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYING provides students with the fundamental knowledge in hydrographic survey including the theory of tides hydrographic survey planning and techniques for positioning, sounding and charts production process
UTILITY MAPPING exposes the students to the definition, history, objectives,
scope, method of survey, occupational safety and health, processing and mapping
of underground utility mapping. These topics provide the student of the knowledge
of field work such as determining the positions of underground materials on earth
MECHANICAL COMPONENTS AND MAINTENANCE course covers necessary
mechanical components needed in Industries. The topics include maintenance
principles and procedures, lubrication, power transmission, bearing, clutches and
brake, and also pumps, valves and compressor. This course also provides knowledge
and skills regarding maintenance of mechanical components as well as assembly and
disassembly of compressors
PNEUMATICS & HYDRAULICS provides knowledge and understanding to the
importance of pneumatics and hydraulics circuits, equipment and design along with its
usage in the industry.
THERMODYNAMICS provides knowledge of theory, concept and application of principles to solve problems related to thermodynamics. It emphasizes on concept of non-flow process and flow process, properties of steam, Carnot cycle and Rankine cycle. This course also exposes the students to the demonstration of experiments in Thermodynamics by using the real equipment.
ENGINEERING MECHANICS focuses on theoretical knowledge in statics and dynamics. This course provides students with fundamental understanding of forces and equilibrium, resultants, equilibrium of a particles and structural analysis. This course also covers kinematics and kinetics of particles. This course also exposes the students to the demonstration of experiments in Engineering Mechanics.
TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE FOR MECHANICAL COMPONENTS course covers necessary mechanical components needed in industries. The topics include maintenance and troubleshooting principles and procedures, power transmission, bearing and pump. This course provides knowledge and skills on maintenance and troubleshooting lubrication, bearing, power transmission and pump.
STRENGTH OF MATERIALS
MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT covers topics such as maintenance
organization, maintenance strategies system, system approach to maintenance,
maintenance planning and scheduling and computerized maintenance management system
(CMMS). This course also provides student with knowledge regarding maintenance of facilities
and equipment in good working condition and help them develop good management

B) ENGINEERING PLANT TECHNOLOGY provides an introduction to power plant technology industry such as steam power plant, gas turbine power plant, diesel power plant, compressed air plant and water pump.

MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING course introduces students a
comprehensive coverage of basic fundamentals of materials science and engineering.
The course focuses on material structures, properties, fabrication methods, corrosion,
thermal processing and material testing mostly of metals and alloys. New fabrication
method of powder metallurgy are introduces to student to cater the fabrications of
devices, sensors for Industry 4.0 technology.
CAD/CAM explains the theory and basic of coding languages, structures and the use of CAD/CAM systems for generating and verifying tool path. The students will be use CAD/CAM software to demonstrate the integration between CAD and CAM operation that includes design an object, produce a code and simulate the tool path for machining operation prior to the machining process and also generate NC part programming. Students also enables to build a project from NC part programming using CNC milling or lathe machine.
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING PROCESS provides students with an understanding and appreciation of the width and depth of the manufacturing processes and interrelationship between manufacturing processes, product design, material properties and other aspects such as humanity, economy and environment. It will introduce advanced machining process such as electrical discharge machining, laser beam, water jet and abrasive machining.
CAD/CAM explains the theory and basic of coding languages, structures and the use of CAD/CAM systems for generating and verifying tool path. The students will learn how to use CAD/CAM software to design an object, produce a code and simulate machining. Besides, students will also be exposed to modern manufacturing system as well as Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) and Reverse Engineering (RE).
Industrial Robotics introduces to the robotic system which emphasize on industrial robot components such as actuators, robot sensors, robot end effectors and control system. Topics also discuss on industrial robot application including the advantages and disadvantages of using robots. The course complete with an explanation of the robot classification, robot programming operations, ANSI robotics safety standard and maintenance process.
Embedded System covers the basic concept and application of microcontroller
system. Students will be able to learn software and hardware development on
microcontroller development system and understand how to interface.
The Diploma in
Mechatronic Engineering graduates in Polytechnics, Ministry of Education will
have the knowledge, technical skills, community service responsibilities and
attitude to adapt themselves with new technological advancement and challenges
in the mechatronic engineering field.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT provides knowledge in manufacturing organizations, involved the application of production process, planning, controlling inventories, assuring product quality and deciding on the production hardware. Students will be exposed to the various techniques of controlling material and learn the new techniques to optimize production technology in manufacturing.
ELECTRICAL MACHINE course expose students to the basic construction,
principle of operation and control of various type of motor and generator. This
course provides students with the basic knowledge and skills to solve various
problem related to motors and generators.
POWER ELECTRONICS course is aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills related to power electronic devices and its application in power conversion. This course also will focus on the operational principle of rectifiers, choppers, inverters and AC voltage controller circuits. Emphasis is given more on producing the output voltage waveforms of the converters.
ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS is designed to provide students with the knowledge
related to AC of electrical circuits. It emphasized on the principles of an alternating
current AC waveform and sinusoidal steady state circuit analysis. This course also
covers the applications of three phase system and operation of various types of
ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR provides students with the knowledge and exposure to the method used in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment. It emphasizes on maintaining electric powered equipment. It also demonstrates knowledge and understanding of electrical schematic diagram and adheres to all safety procedures, regulations for maintaining and display good practices by considering sustainable energy practices.
